Welcome to 3E

3E is taught by Mr Etherington and Mrs Davis, our HLTA, teaches on a Monday morning.

Please use our class page to find out about what we are learning and doing during the year.  More detailed information about the class theme can be found by opening the 'Curriculum Plan' which can be found in 'Files to download' lower down the class homepage.

Our theme for this half term is 'The World and Us.'

In Geography we will be learning all about maps, physical and human features and exploring our local area.  In science we will be developing our understanding of healthy food, balanced diets and food chains. We will also take a journey into our digestive system! Design technology links to this were we will be designing our own healthy sandwich which we are sure will be tasty.

Music and dance will be very exciting this half term- linking to our fantastic Festival on the Field.

This half term we will be focussing on the book 'The Minpins' by Roald Dahl.

This is a lovely book that will spark the children's imagination and inspire them to write. Through this book we will continue to learn to extend our sentences with subordinate conjunctions, subordinate clauses and extended noun phrases. We will also look at how to punctuate speech correctly.

During the second part of the half term we will move to another exciting book-  The Egg by M P Roberson.

Through this book we will learn continue to learn how to write noun phrases, adverbial phrases and subordinate clauses to enhance our sentence writing.

We will learn how to perfect our paragraph writing too.

In year 3 we will have a strong focus on handwriting and spelling.  A list of year 3 words that the children need to learn to spell can be found at the bottom of the page in 'Files to download'.

Times tables:

As children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, a key area of focus is to develop our multiplication tables knowledge and become times table superstars! Strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths and children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week practising their times tables. Please enjoy exploring the times table activities below:
